EUGENE, Ore. - As we approach the midway mark in the high school football season, the stakes get higher and the matchups get tougher.

On Friday night, the Marist Spartans will travel a few miles to face the Churchill Lancers, one of the hottest teams in the state through five games.

Both teams sit atop the Midwestern League standings with unbeaten records in league play, but the offensive firepower favors the Lancers heading into the game.

However, Churchill suffered a blow last week when star wide receiver, and Washington State commit, Myles Green-Richards left the game with an injury. At the moment, there is no word on whether or not he will play against Marist.

For the Spartans, quarterback Reow Jackson will be up against the vaunted Lancer defense, which has allowed just 68 points so far this year, good for third-best in the state.

The title for top-team in the Midwestern League is on the line, and for Churchill, the bid for an undefeated season is still in play.
