Former Cottage Grove teacher facing charges for sexual relations with a student
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Cottage Grove woman who is also a former teacher has been arrested after authorities investigated inappropriate relations between the woman and a former student.
On Tuesday, December 12, Douglas County Sheriff's Office received a report of a female teacher who had been engaging in a sexually intimate relationship with a former student, who is still a minor, the report said.
The woman, 29-year-old Andrea Nicole Baber of Cottage Grove, is a former teacher at Logos Christian Academy in Springfield.
Deputies began their investigation and discovered evidence to substantiate the report, police said.
"It was learned Baber began the relationship with the then 15-year-old student in 2016 and had engaged in a sexual relationship on a regular basis with the minor and provided him with marijuana," Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.
On Friday, December 15, detectives obtained a search warrant for Baber's residence in the 1200-block of Territorial Highway in Cottage Grove where detectives say they located additional evidence.
Baber later returned home and was contacted by deputies after reporting a burglary.
She was taken into custody and lodged in the Douglas County Jail on the following charges:
-Contributing to the Sexual Delinquency of a Minor
-Online Sexual Corruption of a Child I
-Unlawful Delivery of Marijuana to a Person Under 18 years of Age
