First Day of Springfield will offer fun activities for the whole family this year
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Springfield businesses are preparing for the First Day of Springfield.
It’s an annual event to celebrate businesses, non-profits and the entire community.
The festivities start Friday afternoon and evening with businesses on 4th Street and A Street and Main Street participating.
Organizers say in the past it’s been more of a pub crawl, but this year it will be family friendly.
The goal is to start a series of events like this once a month.
“We host this event as kind of a kick off once a year to the patio opening up, the weather getting nicer, people coming and celebrating the beauty that is Springfield and the community it's growing into,” said Carolina Reid, event coordinator at Claim 52 Brewing.
This year, part of the proceeds will go to Downtown Languages – a local non-profit with foreign language programs dedicated to building respect across cultures.
Vendors will be open as early as 3 p.m. The main event is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; that includes trivia.
Sprout! will host a market from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with plants, vegetables, and food. The trivia begins at 7 p.m. in the Market Hall. It’s free and appropriate for all ages.
