DOUGLAS, Ore. - All of the Boulder Creek Wilderness is now closed to entry, as are roads along the eastern edge of the wilderness.

The Sandshed/Millsite area along Highway 138 near milepost 72 is closed to dispersed camping as it is a spike camp for firefighters.

The North Umpqua River is now closed as far east as Soda Spring Dam to the falls at Steamboat Inn and from Jeannie Fishing hole at Steamboat Inn to Susan Creek Campground.

Another change is that motorized access into the Umpqua Hot Springs is no longer available. Visitors may still walk along the road to the hot springs.

This closure will allow wildland fire engines to patrol hot spots in the area by keeping Forest Road 3401 free of parked vehicles. The closed roads consist of Forest Road 3401 from the junction of Forest Road 34 heading east to the junction of Forest Road 3401-600.
