Eugene woman injured, Foster women killed in head-on crash near Harrisburg

The Linn County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene outside Harrisburg just before 7 a.m.

HARRISBURG, Ore. - A Foster woman died and a Eugene woman suffered serious injuries when one of their cars crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the other Thursday morning.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene outside Harrisburg just before 7 a.m.

The investigation found that Kelly Flower, 55, of Foster was southbound on Peoria Road in a 2003 Honda Accord when she crossed into oncoming traffic near Irish Bend Loop, the sheriff's office said.

Flower's Honda collided head-on with a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse driven by Colleen Wedin, 49, of Eugene, the sheriff's office said.

"This section of Peoria Road was straight and it is unknown what caused Flower to go into the oncoming lane," the sheriff's office said in a report, adding that "there was intermittent fog in the area, but it is unknown if this was a factor in the crash."

The two women were the only people in the vehicles.

    Flowers died at the scene.

Wedin suffered serious injuries and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis. The sheriff's office said she is expected to survive her injuries.
