Elk Horn Brewery to hold benefit concert

Murals at the Elk Horn Brewery painted by the late Buddy Sawyer, who was very involved in the arts and music scene around Eugene.

EUGENE, Ore. - In remembrance of their dear friend Buddy Sawyer, the Elk Horn Brewery will be holding a benefit concert for local art programs and Lane County schools on Saturday afternoon.

The Buddy Sawyer Memorial Concert begins at 4 p.m. and will run until around 9 p.m.

Sawyer, a local musician and muralist, died last year in an accident at Matthew Knight Arena while helping to set up a stage.

Because Sawyer was so involved in the music and art scene in Eugene, the Elk Horn Brewery wanted to hold a fundraiser for his passions in his name.

Members of Sawyer's band will be performing at the benefit, and a special Cajun crawfish plate will be served, with a portion of the proceeds going to local art programs.

The Elk Horn will also be broadcasting the fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather for free.
