Dog reported missing following Highway 30 crash found safe

RAINIER, Ore. - Oregon State Police received some good news Tuesday about a dog who was reported missing after a serious crash on Highway 30 in Rainier.

Thor the German shepherd was found safe.

Police say the dog is being assessed by a veterinarian, but will then return home. They thank the public for their assistance.

The crash Thor was involved in occurred on Saturday, April 7.

A 46-year-old woman from St. Helens who was driving the passenger car was air lifted to the hospital with serious injuries. A 52-year-old man, 49-year-old woman and 22-year-old man in the Ford Expedition were taken to the hospital for minor injuries, treated and released.

There were also four German shepherds in the SUV. Two of the dogs were found after the crash, but Thor was reported missing.

Officials say the woman driving the passenger car veered out of her lane and struck the Expedition head on. Alcohol may have played a role in the crash, according to Oregon State Police.
