"The main thing we are trying to do is to compare structures that are built at the ground level and what happens if we start to elevate the structures and how much is that going to help reduce the damage that the waves are going to create," said Dan Cox, an Oregon State engineering professor who is one of the researchers on the project. {p}"The building models, which were 6 feet by 6 feet by 4 feet, were built to the same specifications, but the orange one was built on stilts," according to the university. "The stilts were meant to simulate a house 6 feet off the ground." (OSU){/p}
