#SetTheExpectation: Brenda Tracy launches anti-violence pledge
PORTLAND, Ore. —
Rape survivor Brenda Tracy is asking coaches and athletes to take charge in ending sexual violence against women.
She launched a campaign called "Set the Expectation," which encourages athletes, coaches and staff to take a pledge that if any player commits any kind of violent act, they can't play anymore.
She says if the consequences are set clearly beforehand, players might be less likely to do anything violent.
"Even bigger than that, then what happens to this young man and all the people around him, then we know his behavior matters and character matters. We now have to start having talks about consent and healthy relationships and behavior," Tracy said.
