JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - A man's body was found in a field Monday afternoon.

The identity of the deceased is not yet known, the Lane County Sheriff's Office said.

An employee working in a field near Milliron Road and Highway 99 found the body around 4:34 p.m.

"The deceased appears to have been in the field for a substantial period of time, possibly several weeks, which has made identification difficult," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "Preliminary investigation indicates that the deceased is male, between 5-foot-5” to 6-feet tall with short, dark hair, and some facial hair. Age and ethnicity are still being determined."

The State Forensic Anthropologist is working with local authorities to identify the man.

The sheriff's office said there is no indication the man died from violence.
