Body found in McKenzie River identified as Eugene man

EUGENE, Ore. - The Lane County Sheriff's office was able to identify the body found in the McKenzie River this week as Dylan Powell, a 43-year-old man from Eugene.

The body was originally found on Wednesday afternoon, about a mile downstream from Armitage Park.

There is no indication of foul play and it does not appear that Powell was in the water for an extended period of time.

The cause of death has been determined to be fresh water drowning, and at this time it is unknown what Powell was doing in or near the river.

The Lane Count Sheriff's Office will continue to investigate the death.
