Be Nice Week: Springfield school celebrates kindness this week
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- It's "Be Nice Week” at Agnes Stewart Middle School in Springfield and Thursday the school held a special assembly to celebrate students and faculty who exemplify what kindness is all about.
The Ducks spoke with the kids about what it means to be kind, answered questions the kids had, and signed a few autographs following the assembly.
"Our old academic advisor asked if we could give some words to the kids for their Be Kind Week,” explained Nelson. “We said, 'Sure, why not?' Love to give back to the community."
"It means a lot, especially being able to use our platform,” Freeman said. “These kids probably watched us play, probably followed us as we were Ducks. So, just to give back and be able to give them some words and experiences we had means a lot."
The Be Nice initiative at Agnes Stewart was started by Family and Consumer Sciences teacher Ricci Huling last year.
She says she hopes Be Nice Week can spread to other Springfield schools so the district can celebrate being kind together.
