Attempted murder suspect linked to Salem shooting arrested in Portland

The suspect in an attempted murder case out of Salem was arrested in Portland on Thursday, police investigators said.

Detectives from Salem Police’s Violent Crimes Unit arrested Isaiah Randall Counts, 35, late Thursday night in Portland.

He was identified as the suspect in a December 1 shooting that left a 24-year-old woman hospitalized.

Randall was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on several charges, including:

  • Attempted murder in the second degree constituting domestic violence with a firearm
  • Assault in the first degree constituting domestic violence with a firearm
  • Unlawful use of a weapon

Counts will be transferred back to Marion County for his arraignment and prosecution on the charges.

Salem Police said it thanked Gresham Police, Portland Police, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, and the ATF for their help in Counts’ arrest.
