Armed robbery overnight in Springfield being compared to recent Eugene robberies

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Police in Springfield responded to a reported armed robbery just before 1 a.m. Monday at a local business.

Officers responded to the incident at Lucky Lou’s Deli at 4215 Main St. at 12:58 a.m.

Police say the suspect departed prior to officer arrival.

He was reportedly armed with a black semiautomatic handgun, the report said.

While inside the business, he demanded money from the employee and then focused on three patrons inside the establishment.

One of the female patrons described being struck in the head by the gun while trying to give him the money she had, police said.

The suspect then stole several cartons of cigarettes and calmly departed the business on foot.

"A Springfield Police K9 picked up a strong track from the business to the 200 block of S. 42nd St., where it ended in a parking lot indicating the suspect likely left in a vehicle," Springfield Police said. "Officers are comparing the description to recent robberies in Eugene to see if there is a connection."

he's described as a white male in his 20s or 30s wearing a black jacket, grey pants and a black and white bandanna over his face.
