3 people, dog rescued from car after crash into river southeast of Eugene

    PLEASANT HILL, Ore. - Rescuers pulled 3 people and a dog from a car that crashed into the Coast Fork of the Willamette River early Wednesday morning.

    The crash happened around 12:20 a.m.

    The car apparently left Mathews Road near where the road makes a sharp turn back towards Highway 58.

    A neighbor reported hearing a loud crash.

    First responders later arrived on scene and went to work getting the people out of the river, the neighbor said.

    The identities and conditions of the people involved in the crash are not yet known.

    The cause of the crash is under investigation.

    Crews are still on scene formulating a plan to remove the wreckage from the river.
