EUGENE, Ore. - The Grateful Dead last played Autzen Stadium in 1994, a 3-day stand in late June.

The final show opened with "Touch of Grey" - and closed with an encore performance of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" by sometime Dead collaborator Bob Dylan.

Jerry Garcia died that next summer on August 9, 1995, just over a week after his 53rd birthday.

Members of the band played on - sometimes in Eugene - with bands like Furthur.

That band - the name riffs on the band's storied relationship with Ken Kesey - played at the Cuthbert Amphitheater.

But the Dead haven't been back to Autzen - until now.

Dead & Co. - which includes original guitarist Bob Weir and drummers Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann, joined by guitarist John Mayer on guitar, bassist Oteil Burbridge and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti - announced plans to perform June 30, 2018, at Autzen Stadium as part of their summer tour.
