A Hollywood celebrity was in Central Kentucky Saturday, helping a local distillery give out free turkeys.

Actor Matthew McConaughey, known for starring in films such as "The Wedding Planner," "We Are Marshall" and "The Lincoln Lawyer," teamed up with the Wild Turkey Distillery to help distribute frozen turkeys in Lawrenceburg.

McConaughey, who is the bourbon brand's creative director, live-streamed a video on Facebook of him surprising a group of 250 volunteers at the distillery Saturday morning.

The group, along with McConaughey, passed out 4,500 frozen turkeys to people who live in Lawrenceburg, where the distillery is located. The turkeys for the project, titled Wild Turkey Gives Back, were donated by Butterball.

Saturday was McConaughey's 48th birthday.
