COQUILLE, Ore. -- Toneata Morgan of Coquille will compete at the 2018 Miss USA Competition to be held at George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum in Shreveport-Bossier, Louisiana on May 21.

The 2-hour show will end with Miss USA 2017, Kára McCullough, crowning her successor.

As Miss Oregon USA, Morgan will compete against women representing 49 other states and the District of Columbia. Tickets are available.

Morgan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Minor in Film, Media and Television Studies, on May 5, 2018. She is the founder, owner, and designer of All Legs, an online active-wear store. Morgan also works as a host, actress and spokesmodel, and can be seen in several popular reality TV series, including “Beauty and the Geek Australia,” “Growing Up Hip Hop,” and “Master P's Family Empire.”

Since being crowned last October, Morgan has traveled the state giving talks at middle schools about being kind online and stopping cyberbullying. Her internet kindness campaign can be followed at #StandWithToneata and #ThinkTwicePostNice. She has also visited VA centers to support and honor veterans.

Morgan was recently asked why women compete in pageants today. She answered in her blog:

For me, the answer is clear. My mission to be crowned Miss USA 2018 is grounded in my dream of making a positive difference in our world. The Miss USA title provides an unsurpassed opportunity to be a positive role model for young women nationwide, inspire other women to pursue their dreams, and have a highly public platform to further my causes: raising awareness about cyberbullying and honoring our veterans. On reflection, I have been on my Mission Miss USA for years, competing in preliminary and state level Miss USA competitions for personal and professional development, and to spread the word about causes I support.
