Megan Shinn is proud and happy to be a part of the KMTR news team, as a multi-media journalist, since July 2015. She has fallen in love with Oregon and especially the community of Eugene! She moved from southern California where she received a BFA in Television Broadcast Journalism, and a minor in dance, from Chapman University.
Born in Iowa and raised in Denver Colorado, Megan caught the news bug early on in life. For her, it all started when she was a student in the middle school news class and was inspired by watching reporter Lisa Ling, on "Channel One."
Prior to KMTR, she was an editorial assistant / news intern at NBC4 News in Los Angels. She feels grateful to have worked along the side of Emmy Award winning producers and reporters, where she helped cover various feature investigative stories.
Megan, also, worked with her mentor-- investigative reporter David Goldstein, at KCBS/ KCAL in Los Angeles; and was a production assistant for ESPN3, filming sports center highlighted games.
Growing up as a competitive dancer, Megan loves using her creativity and taking on new challenges. One of her favorite experiences was having sailed around the world on "Semester At Sea", while teaching dance classes on the ship in her free time. She loves exploring new places, meeting new people, and feels privileged to tell other people's stories.
She is very excited to start her journalism career at KMTR News Source 16, and enjoys exploring all that the Northwest has to offer. Feel free to share your story with Megan. You can follow her on Facebook, Twitter.
