Sheriff: Person pulled from car submerged in canal near Albany

ALBANY, Ore. - A person was pulled from a car submerged in a canal Friday morning, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said.

The identity and condition of the person is not known.

The crash happened on Three Lakes Road near 40th Avenue at the Albany Santiam Canal.

A passing motorist reported seeing the car in the canal at 7:17 a.m.

Emergency responders pulled a person from the car and took the person to Albany General Hospital.

The road remained closed as of 10 a.m. as deputies investigated the crash.

The sheriff's office urged motorists to use alternate routes.
