GRANTS PASS, Ore. - A 13-year-old girl found injured along the side of a rural Oregon road has died.

Investigators are working to notify the girl's family.

A passerby located the girl Monday morning along East Evans Creek Road, northeast of Grants Pass.

"Investigators are not yet confirming the type of injuries sustained by the victim," the Jackson County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. "However, they are considering the high likelihood that she was struck by a passing vehicle or an item attached to a vehicle."

Anyone who drove through the area and has information related to the case is asked to call dispatch at (541) 776-7206.

The sheriff's office would also like to hear from anyone who has a surveillance camera system that records traffic on East Evans Creek Road between the city of Rogue River and Wimer.
