CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. – One person died and another was taken to the hospital Thursday after a three-vehicle crash on Highway 199 in Southern Oregon.
According to Oregon State Police, 46-year-old Joseph Pygman, of Medford, was driving a Chevy van south on the highway when at about 3:30 p.m. he crossed the center lane and hit a northbound Honda CRV.
The Honda’s driver was flown to a trauma center and pronounced deceased.
Pygman was taken to the hospital in an ambulance; he is expected to survive.
No word on what caused Pygman to cross over the center line.
A third driver, 37-year-old Sang Coa Tran, rear-ended the Chevy van after the crash. Tran was not hurt in the crash.
Police are withholding the name of the deceased driver until family members have been notified of the death.
