EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon Department of Transportation is on a roll.

In May, the agency competed to win the Internet with a social media campaign for Star Wars Day.

The agency has put sasquatch's big feet to work promoting crosswalk safety.

Now a new series of shareable "Safétymon Go” characters riffs on the Pokémon Go theme, putting critters to work promoting safety.

"ODOT created these Pokémon-like characters to 'poké' fun at safety but in a way that brings attention to the importance of paying attention," the agency said in a press release.

And good thing: people hunting Pokemon have at times found themselves on the wrong side of the safety equation.
