REDMOND, Ore. – A police officer and two drivers are recovering in the hospital after a three-vehicle crash on Highway 126 Wednesday afternoon.

According to Oregon State Police, the officer was heading west on the highway when about 5:15 p.m. he stopped to make a left turn. The driver behind him, Kelsey Dixon, 24, of Powell Butte, rear-ended the patrol car in a 2008 Chevy full-size pickup.

The impact sent the police car forward. Dixon’s Chevy went into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a 2015 Dodge Ram truck driven by 43-year-old Redmond resident Christopher Lane.

Lane, who had to be extricated from his pickup, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Both Dixon and the police officer suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Redmond Police plan to release the officer’s name at a later time.
