LYONS, Ore. - Deputies found a driver dead in his van after the vehicle went off the road overnight and collided with a tree.

Investigators found Michael Dee Miller, 64, of Lyons in the wreckage of his 1990 Ford Econoline van.

"Miller was found wearing his seat belt and did not have any obvious trauma or injury," the Linn County Sheriff's Office said. "Evidence collected on scene indicates alcohol may have been a contributing factor."

A passerby spotted the wreck and called authorities Monday. Deputies responded around 8:03 a.m.

Investigators suspect Miller crashed sometime between 12:02 a.m. and 7:58 a.m., when the wreck was discovered.

The van was eastbound on Kingston Lyons Drive when it went onto a gravel shoulder in a sweeping corner, the sheriff's office said.

"Miller appears to have over-corrected, coming back onto the roadway, and crossing both lanes of travel," the sheriff's office said. "Miller left the roadway on the opposite shoulder and traveled about 100 feet before striking a tree."
