A Bend man was arrested this weekend for causing a three-car crash on Highway 20.
Oregon State Police were called to the highway near milepost 76 around 9 p.m. on Saturday evening.
Troopers say Salvador Marcelo Blas was driving a Kia Optima at a high rate of speed when he crossed into the westbound lanes nearly hitting a Kia Sorento. The driver of the Sorento was able to avoid the crash by driving his car into a ditch. Blas then struck another car head-on.
Two passengers in Blas' car and the driver of the third car were hospitalized in serious condition. The next day, Blas turned himself in to police in Bend. He was arrested on charges of assault, reckless driving and failure to perform duties of a driver.
