Lowell man critical after motorcycle crashes into pickup on Hwy 58

DEXTER, Ore. - A Lowell man is in critical condition after his motorcycle crashed into a pickup truck on Highway 58 Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 5:50 a.m. near the intersection with Matthews Drive.

The preliminary investigation found that a blue 2016 Dodge Ram driven by 58-year-old Daniel Pomerenk of Olympia, Wash., was westbound on Hwy. 58, Oregon State Police said.

Christopher Ripley, 40, was behind the pickup riding a 1994 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

"Witness statements indicate the Dodge was turning left at this location and for unknown reasons, the motorcycle was unable to stop, crashing into the front driver's side of the Dodge truck near the centerline of the westbound lane," state police said in a report.

Medics took Ripley to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
