RICKREALL, Ore. - Passersby pulled a Eugene man from the wreckage of his SUV before it caught fire after he ran a stop sign and collided with a truck Tuesday, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

The crash was captured on camera by a GPS unit inside the truck, the sheriff's office said.

The crash happened just before 11 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 223E and Rickreall Road.

According to deputies, 27-year-old Justin Yarbrough of Eugene failed to stop at a stop sign on Rickreall Road before pulling out onto the highway.

The GMC Envoy Yarbrough was driving collided with a Chevrolet 2500 pickup driven by Frank Lund, 59, of Alberta, Canada.

A camera in Lund's GPS unit caught the crash on video.

People who witnesses the crash stopped and pulled Yarbrough from the GMC before it caught fire, the sheriff's office said.

The crash response and investigation closed the highway for 2 hours.

Yarbrough was taken by ambulance to the Salem Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies cited him to appear for failing to obey a traffic control device and careless driving.

Lund shared the video with the Polk County Sheriff. They made the footage public "in hopes that people would slow down and be more aware while they are driving."
