ALBANY, Ore. - A 17-year-old died in a car crash early Friday morning, Albany Police said.

Police said Colby Shane Waters Jackson of Albany died at the scene.

A second person in the red 1993 Jeep Wrangler, identified as 19-year-old Justin Neal-Gage Moller of Albany, was taken to the hospital with "multiple injuries."

Police and firefighters responded to the crash scene in the 1900 block Cascade Heights Drive NW of just before 3 a.m.

"Upon arrival, police located a red, 1993 Jeep Wrangler that had left the road and collided with waste and recycling receptacles, some brick columns, and a metal fence," police said.

"The initial investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling south on Cascade Heights Drive before it left the road. Moller and Waters Jackson were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and both were ejected from the vehicle," police said in a statement. "Investigators have yet to determine who was operating the vehicle at the time of the crash. Vehicle speed and alcohol were contributing factors in this incident."

The crash closed the intersection of Cascade Heights Drive NW and Horseshoe Lake Circle NW for 4 hours during the investigation.
