EUGENE, Ore. - The University of Oregon athletics director Rub Mullens announced on Tuesday that head baseball coach George Horton signed a contract that will keep him at the helm through June 30, 2020.

In nine seasons at Oregon, Horton has compiled a 320-220-1 record (.592) while leading the Ducks to the post season five times, the last trip coming in 2015.

"We appreciate George's leadership in building Oregon baseball, and we are excited about the future," said Mullens.

Oregon's student-athletes have excelled on and off the field under Horton, with a total of 29 players being selected in the Major League Baseball Draft, two of which were taken in the first round.

Of those 29 players, four have advanced to the big leagues.

“I’m very happy that we were able to extend our agreement well ahead of the Sept. 10 deadline,” Horton said. “And I’m excited for and eager to start the 2017-18 season so we can continue toward achieving our goals as a baseball program.”
