Beavers select Kevin Clune as new defensive coordinator
CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State football team officially introduced Kevin Clune as the Beavers' new defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach Friday.
Clune and Head Coach Gary Andersen have a history together. Clune worked as the linebackers coach with Andersen at Utah State. The two were also on the same coaching staff at Southern Utah University and University of Utah.
Friday, Clune spoke about implementing his vision for the defense.
"You can't just force kids to do exactly what you say. They have their own athletic personalities or skill sets or whatever you want to say, so we can't cram, you know, square pegs into round holes - that type things. So we're going to have to figure out, I'm going to have to figure out, coach probably knows better than I do, what they can do, what they can be successful at, what they're not, what their weaknesses are, and that my vision has to evolve to what they can do," he said.
A cornerbacks coach is expected to be named soon. It's expected to be Cory Hall from Weber State, but that has not been officially announced.
