Wastewater treatment plant project needs more weekends to meet planned completion date
COOS BAY, Ore. -- The City of Coos Bay has commenced construction of the new wastewater treatment plant at the northeast corner of Fulton Avenue and Empire Boulevard.
The construction has been ongoing for several months now, and is anticipated to be complete in December 2018, the City said.
At the beginning of the project, Council granted the contractor ten weekend work days. To date, the project has expended eight of the ten weekends, and the construction is approximately 30% complete.
In an effort to maintain the scheduled completion date of December 2018, City staff, on behalf of the City’s contractor, is requesting approval to work an additional ten weekends.
The City Council has asked for public input on this subject and accepted input at Monday night’s Council meeting.
