'Hit-and-run crash' closes Umpqua River Bridge in Reedsport

REEDSPORT, Ore. - A crash closed the Umpqua River Bridge on Highway 101 in Reedsport on Wednesday afternoon.

The Oregon Department of Transportation says it was a "hit-and-run crash that caused major damage to the structure." ODOT bridge engineers are on scene.

One lane of traffic reopened at 2:50 p.m., ODOT said. Officials say to expect delays as the traffic queue clears.

"Use caution and watch for workers and equipment along the highway," ODOT said.

ODOT is assisting Oregon State Police in identifying the driver. If you have any information regarding the crash, call Oregon State Police.
