Community donors fund holiday meal for all Days Creek School District students
DAYS CREEK, Ore. -- Gratitude will overflow at Days Creek Charter School on Thursday, Nov. 16, as the school celebrates Thanksgiving with a free holiday lunch for all of its nearly 200 students.
The meal is the result of anonymous donations, according to Days Creek Superintendent and Principal Mark Angle.
A local business contributed $400, and a Days Creek alumnus is purchasing pumpkin pie with whipped topping for all.
“These community volunteers are providing enough funding that we are going to serve a free Thanksgiving feast to every single student in our school, regardless of whether the student normally receives a free or reduced-price lunch,” Angle said.
The menu will feature turkey and stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, green beans, hot rolls and, of course, the all-important pumpkin pie.
Extra support staff will be on hand to help serve and clean up during the festive occasion.
Lunches will be served to students in the cafeteria at the school at 11381 Tiller Trail Highway in Days Creek.
