Siletz Valley Schools Dean of Students on leave amid sex abuse investigation
SILETZ. Ore. – The 55-year-old Dean of Students at Siletz Valley Schools has been placed on administrative leave as police investigate allegations of sex abuse involving a student.
Joe Bailor, listed as the district’s Dean of Students and high school tech educator, was indicted on third-degree sex abuse charges.
The investigation started January 9 when the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office got a report of possible inappropriate contact between Bailor and an underage student at Siletz Valley School.
After interviewing several witnesses, investigators said they found that Bailor had "inappropriate contact" with a girl in a "public location" of the building during school hours.
The case has been referred to the Lincoln County District Attorney's Office.
A spokesperson for the district said they are aware of the police investigation into the alleged abuse, and that they placed Bailor on leave as soon as they heard about the indictment.
Bailor has been booked into the Lincoln County Jail; his bail is set at $50,000.
