Man walking in middle of street struck by police officer
SAN ANTONIO -- A man who was walking in the middle of a Northwest Side street was struck by a police officer who was in the process of searching for the victim.
Police say the officer was driving west on Potranco Road around 3:30 a.m. Saturday and spotted a woman in the middle of the street.
The officer stopped and told the woman to get up onto the curb. The woman then told him she was trying to get to a man who was walking in the middle of the street who told her he wanted to be hit by a car.
The officer then continued driving west on Potranco in search of the man. The officer did not see the man, who was dressed in dark clothing, and ended up hitting him.
The man was taken to University Hospital with minor injuries.
