VIDEO: Drone footage shows aftermath of Elk City storms

New video shows the aftermath of the powerful storm that tore through western Oklahoma Tuesday afternoon.

Drone footage shows the battered homes and debris scattered throughout Elk City.

Just after 7:15 p.m. a rain-wrapped tornado moved through Beckham County, hitting the towns of Carter and the southeast portion of Elk City. The Elk City Fire Department confirms that several homes have been damaged in the incident and that multiple people were injured. FOX 25 crews encountered several damaged homes along Fairway Drive near the Elk City Golf Course and Country Club.

The Beckham County Emergency Manager Danny Ringer reports that one person died in a Beckham County home near Highway 34 and Highway 152. Approximately 20 to 25 people were transported to a local hospital via ambulances.

Elk City Public Schools are canceled Wednesday in the wake of the storm. A disaster relief center has been established at the Elk City Sale Barn for those impacted by the storm. The Elk City First Baptist Church is also available to be used for those who need food and shelter. The Elk City-area also suffered power outages. Power is not expected to be restored until late in the evening or morning.
