Students from a school in Ventura, Calif., reached out to the Boise Fire Department for its help during the devastating fires in December with a hand-written letter.
"We know that many first responders were away from their own families during December," the letter, posted on the department's Instagram page said. "Hope our cards put a smile on your face. W thank everyone in the Boise Fire Dept. who came to Ventura and the county during the Thomas Fire.
Many students signed the letter.
