School bus carrying students crashes in Ohio, ends up on its side
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A school bus carrying 5 students crashed in Dayton around 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
According to Dayton Public School officials, the crash involved another vehicle, an SUV, that had two students in it as well. The crash happened on Dennison Avenue and Weaver Street this morning. Four of the students on board the bus attend Longfellow Academy and the other student attends DECA, a charter high school. The two students in the other vehicle attend Dunbar High school, according to a school spokeswoman.
We're told the SUV somehow hit the bus, causing it to flip. One of the Longfellow students on board the bus was taken to Dayton Children's Hospital and the two students in the SUV were taken to Miami Valley Hospital, according to a school spokeswoman.
According to Major Eric Henderson with the Dayton Police Department, all of the students injured in the crash are said to have minor injuries "We're very fortunate that there are no serious injures," Henderson said. A crash reconstruction team is working to figure out exactly how the crash happened.
