Bride's photo with service dog goes viral
Valerie Parrott was preparing for one of the most important moments of her life, but before saying 'I-do,' the bride needed the support of her dog medical service dog, Bella.
That moment was captured on camera and is now melting the hearts of millions.
"It's so much more than just a photo, and I recognize that," said high school friend and photographer, Maddie Peschong.
The photo shows Bella, a 3-year-old medical service dog rubbing, her head against Valerie Parrott's knees, a tactic she often does when Parrott is anxious, stressed or on the verge of a panic attack.
"As [Valerie] was putting the finishing touches on what she was wearing that day, putting her necklace on, she was getting a little anxious, and her mom asked how she was doing, and then Val asked for a minute alone with Bella," added Preschong.
During the brief moment, Preschong captured the image. Soon after she posted the photo, it went viral. Large news outlets began contacting the photographer.
But despite the photo's fame, the moment frozen in time means a lot more to Val.
"She's really turned it into a way to educate the community, but also people nationwide about service dogs and the fact that they are available to people," Preschong said.
