Willamette Pass opens to skiers Friday for first time this winter
EUGENE, Ore. - Lifts will start running this Friday for the first time this winter at Willamette Pass ski resort.
Skiers normally begin their season in late November or December. This year, the weather forged a new timeline.
Willamette Pass staff say last week's snow is enough to get skiers out on the slopes - and employees back to work.
"So that's why we're doing everything we can to start getting going with the minimum that we have," said Tim Wiper with Willamette Pass. "There have been years though that if the weather stays like this, then of course we're not going to enjoy much of the winter and it'll be hard on us."
All 5 lifts will be operating, but just half of the mountain will be open to skiers.
