Weyerhaeuser mill in Sweet Home sold to Lane County company
SWEET HOME, Ore. -- A Weyerhaeuser Company mill in Sweet Home will soon be under new ownership.
Weyerhaeuser Government Affairs Manager Greg Miller confirmed that plans are underway to sell their Sweet Home veneer facility to Murphy Company, a manufacturer based in Lane County.
Miller said the two companies reached an agreement in late September. He said about 117 employees at the Sweet Home facility were informed of the sale.
Sweet Home City Manager Ray Towry said the Weyerhaeuser facility is one of the largest employers in Sweet Home. According to the company’s website, Weyerhaeuser Company employs approximately 10,400 people worldwide.
Miller said he expects the transaction to close by the end of the month.
