Vehicle drives through front of Springfield cigarette shop

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – A car drove into Cigarettes for Less in Springfield Saturday evening.

Emergency personnel responded to the store at 1891 Pioneer Parkway East at 6:57 p.m.

According to police, no one was injured.

Officer Matt Newton was at the scene. He said the driver was in the parking lot and stepped on the wrong pedal. The driver went through the front wall and window of the store.

Police say no one was nearby when the vehicle crashed through the shop.

Newton said it looks like the crash caused several thousands of dollars’ worth of damage. Products inside the store were destroyed along with the window and wall.

NBC 16’s Chief Meteorologist Kris Nation witnessed the vehicle go through the building.
