UO players donate time, work at Eugene Mission serving meals
EUGENE, Ore. -- The Eugene Mission welcomed new volunteers Friday afternoon.
More than a dozen University of Oregon football players gave back to the community by feeding those in need.
Eugene Mission says the UO donated enough food to feed more than 200 people.
They say players donated an hour of their time to show their support to the community, from serving up burgers to washing dishes.
Officials say their help goes a long way.
"These folks are a part of their community while they are here, so getting them out and active and what it means to our guests,” said Eugene Mission’s Tabitha Eck. “’These U of O football teams are going to come serve me lunch!?’ It’s just amazing; a lot of smiles today."
