Stewart Pond cleanup held for National Public Lands Day
EUGENE, Ore. - The last day of September is National Public Lands Day, a nationwide effort for residents to explore and appreciate our public lands.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Willamette Resources and Educational Network (WREN) partnered up to help clean up Stewart Pond, part of the West Eugene Wetlands.
"We are not just here to go and have some fun, and clean everything up. We are here to help our environment, and that makes us grow as people," said Desy Durgin, Troop #179. "We get to make new friends - helping our our environment and it's a very great cause."
Stewart Pond in West Eugene is home to different wildlife, including river otters and Black-tailed deer.
