State police 'humbled by the support' for critically injured trooper
EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon State Police identified the trooper shot and critically injured by a suspect as 32-year-old Nic Cederberg.
"Last night, Trooper Nic Cederberg, North Plains Worksite, was in contact with a violent offender in Washington County which resulted in an officer involved shooting," state police said Monday afternoon. "Nic received multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a Portland area hospital. Nic underwent surgery this morning and is in critical condition surrounded by his family and friends."
Cederberg has been with the state police for 7 years. He is an Army veteran.
"Please respect the family's privacy as they go through this difficult situation," police asked. "We are also humbled by the support the community has given."
