Springfield voters to decide fate of levy renewal for police, jail, & court services
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- In the upcoming Nov. 7 election, Springfield voters will decide the fate of a five-year levy renewal for police, jail and court services.
It's ballot Measure 20-273.
Funds would pay for 40 positions in the police department, and pay for operation of the Springfield city jail.
Some money would also go for municipal court services.
Officials say the levy would charge property owners a $1.40 for every thousand dollars valuation, a boost of 12-cents per thousand from the current levy that runs out next July.
