EUGENE, Ore. - Smoke from forest fires is expected to return to the southern Willamette Valley on Monday.

"East winds may move smoke from fires in the Cascades to west of the Cascades today," the Nation Weather Service said Monday morning.

The forecast calls for "areas of smoke after 11 a.m."

Lane Regional Air Protection Agency monitors showed little to no pollution from particulate matter as of 9 a.m. Monday. Air quality hit extremely unhealthy levels last week.

Particulate matter is the tiny pollutant in smoke that can penetrate deep into the lungs and cause health problems.
