PORTLAND, Ore. – Law enforcement agencies across the state spent days searching for 23-year-old Demi Helenius who disappeared without saying anything to her family on Saturday.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office found the missing woman Tuesday night.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement Wednesday:

“Ms. Helenius left on her own for personal reasons. When she was located, Ms. Helenius was found to be not in danger and in very good health. Though the manner in which she did it caused a lot of people (including us) much concern, we respect her privacy.”

In a statement on behalf of the family, Helenius' brother, Casey Culley, thanked law enforcement and the public for their help, whether it was from sharing posts on social media, handing out flyers or simply keeping the family in their thoughts and prayers.

"We were overwhelmed with the love and support we felt during this tough time. It definitely restored our faith in humanity," he wrote. "We could not have found her without everyone's exhausted efforts."

The sheriff’s office said a tip from the public led Lane County sheriff’s deputies to find Helenius in Roseburg around 8:30 p.m.

Helenius attended the Landmark Worldwide Forum, a self-improvement seminar, at the Embassy Suites Hotel near the Portland airport Saturday night.

She lives with her mom, who told officials her daughter is usually good about calling and texting when she leaves somewhere. But she did not call Saturday night and never returned home.

Helenius’ phone was given to a worker at a Dairy Queen in Creswell, Oregon on Saturday night by a man passing through the drive through.

Her car was found in the town of Cottage Grove, which is about 10 miles south of Creswell on the I-5 corridor.

The strange circumstances of her disappearance had baffled her family and investigators.
