Sheriff searching for wanted man in Veneta area: 'He's going to surface somewhere'

VENETA, Ore. - A tactical unit responded to a home in the Veneta area in an attempt to locate a suspect known to carry a firearm who is wanted in multiple criminal cases, the Lane County Sheriff's Office said.

A deputy spotted Sean Lovewell, 29, just before 10 a.m. at a home on Erdman Way, south of Highway 126, the sheriff's office said.

Lovewell is suspected of discharging a firearm during a dispute Wednesday, the sheriff's office said.

The sheriff's office called in deputies and activated a tactical team in an attempt to contact Lovewell.

Lovewell fled and remains on the loose.

"We know somebody out there knows Sean and he's going to surface somewhere," Sgt. Carrie Carver said. "If they could get to a safe place and call it in to us, that would be fantastic."
